to actively support regional artists, artistic activity, and the placement of visual art in the community;

and to promote and provide cultural opportunities for all residents of Modesto and the surrounding region.
We are an organization of volunteers and artists working together to promote the visual arts.
The Central California Art Association (CCAA) has been in existence since 1951. We are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization with a cooperative and growing membership of over 340 members. A Board of Directors consisting of 8 members provides corporate supervision.
The Mistlin Gallery at 1015 J Street is operated by CCAA displays both members' art and the work of artists from outside the region. Our gallery provides opportunity and encouragement through art classes offered in different media and taught by accomplished artists. We provide free monthly demonstrations, lectures and presentations made by well-known artists from the state and elsewhere.
The Mistlin Gallery showcases a variety of local jewelry artists and both 2and 3 dimensional artisans who offer their work for sale in a dynamic setting in the gallery. Their works are juried to insure quality and originality.
The Central California Art Association sponsors four major exhibits each year that are free to the public. They are the Young Masters' Art Exhibition and the Spring Show, Prospectives Photography Show and the Modesto Art and Wine Festival.
An important part of the mission of CCAA is to provide arts education to children, adults and areas of need. A variety of classes are offered to children and adults in collaboration with Modesto City Parks and Recreation here at the gallery and at city facilities. All classes are taught by certified art teachers and children are divided into their age appropriate classes from 3 to12 years of age. The City of Modesto grant also supports the Art Assistance Program that provides scholarships for children at-risk in the 12 to 18 year age group. The CCAA hosts three, ten week sessions of therapeutic art classes through the Memorial Hospital Cancer Registry for cancer survivors and caregivers.

We host poetry readings frequently.
We have a grand collection of jewlery made by local artisians and offer fashion shows through out the year.
The CCAA is an outreach to the community as a non-profit organization to assist and to enrich the lives and culture of our community. We join with the performing arts and other groups in our area to expand our mission of awareness and educate on the value and importance of the arts.
