ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to all artists, in all media, 18 years of age or older. Works must be recent creations by the artist. Copies, photographs, digital media & prints will not be accepted. Work done under classroom supervision is acceptable if done solely by the artist. No works previously exhibited in the Central California Art Association’s (CCAA) Spring Show will be allowed.
ENTRY
Please mail or deliver to the gallery your entry form, fees & JPEGS by April 10 at 3:00 p.m. Late entries will not be accepted. Limit of five entries per artist. Current Members $10/entry. Non-Members $15/entry. Notification sent in SASE provided by the Artist.
IMAGE ENTRY PROCEDURE
For 2-D artwork, submit only one image for each piece. For 3-D artwork, submit up to 3 images per piece. Jurying into this show is based solely on these images. The image submitted must be clearly representative of the actual artwork. The image submitted must be in focus, not blurry, no flash glare, no reflections from glass or framing, no extraneous background items, including frame. No titles, no words or typesetting, no digital backgrounds. The entry image is to be original and not digitally or computer enhanced.
Images must be submitted as JPEG files via CD or via email (available also through www.ccartassn.org ). Label the CD with your name, phone and email address. JPEG files must be in resolution of 300 dpi or greater. If sending the file via email (or through the website) the JPEG files must be compressed (or zipped). Zipped folder size must be less than 25MB per email.
JPEG files must follow this naming structure: LASTNAME_TitleWithNoSpaces.jpg
For example, MONET_WaterLilies.jpg
RECEIVING OF ACCEPTED WORK
Receiving of accepted work will be at the CCAA Mistlin Gallery on Friday, April 30, 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 1, noon-4 p.m. Accepted artwork must be presented in a professional manner. Poorly presented work will not be displayed. Entries must be hand delivered. Artwork must match the images that have been judged. All accepted paintings must have screw eyes & have wire ends taped. No wet paintings, no “fast frames” and no sawtooth hangers will be accepted. No artwork that has been entered & accepted may be removed before the close of the show. Electronic works, installation works, or any piece requiring special installment, must be set up by the artist. Entry fees will not be refunded. Parking is available in the garage at 11th & K Streets; the Gallery will validate your parking garage ticket.
JURYING & JUDGING CRITERIA
Jurying for acceptance of artwork will be by JPEG. Judging for awards will by actual artwork. Acceptance is based on qualities of artistic excellence, including creativity, impact, technical superiority, composition, artistic flare & originality. All decisions of the judges, jurors & the CCAA are final. The jurors are Mark Roberts and Carolyn Macpherson. The awards judge is Patty Taylor.
SHOW COMMITTEE PEROGATIVES
The Show Committee reserves the right to omit awards in low entry categories, combine low entry categories, change the category of an artwork or eliminate artwork that does not match the image originally submitted to the jury. Even though an entry has been selected for exhibition or has been awarded a prize by the jury, the Show Committee reserves the right to remove any entry deemed to be not in the best interest of the show or the show’s sponsors. Additionally, artworks not meeting the entry requirements will not be exhibited.
LIABILITES & SALES
Care will be taken with all entries; however, neither the CCAA nor its members will be responsible for any damage or loss during the handling of this exhibit. Sales will be encouraged & a commission of 40% will be charged for all sales made during or as a result of the exhibit. ALL WORKS IN THIS SHOW MUST BE FOR SALE.
OVERSIZED OR HEAVY WORKS
Works are limited to 60 inches in diameter & 50 pounds maximum in weight. Any piece not meeting these parameters is beyond our ability to display & may be rejected. Special stands, if necessary, for sculptural pieces must be furnished by the artist.
PICKUP
Works are to be picked up at the CCAA Mistlin Gallery on Friday, June 25, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, June 26, 12-4 p.m. A $5 charge per day will be made on each work not picked up on the designated dates. After 30 days, all unclaimed artwork will become the property of the CCAA.
