What we’re doing

From June 28 to September 3, service on the​line will be partially suspended in three phases:

• From June 28 to July 5,​trains didn’t run between Court Sq and Nassau Av.
• From July 5 to August 12,​trains won’t run between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
• From August 12 to September 3,​trains won’t run between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.

Why we’re doing it

The Crosstown Line, used by the​train, still has its original signal system from when it opened over 90 years ago. This system is now past the end of its useful life. So, we’re bringing the latest in communications-based train control (CBTC) technology to the Crosstown Line. A more modern, reliable signal system means more reliable service for the 160,000 riders who take the​each day.

We’re partially suspending service 24/7 in three phases because this will allow us to complete the work much more quickly than working only overnight or on weekends. This will help us reach our goal of fully upgrading the signal system on the Crosstown Line by 2027.

Service changes

Phase 1: June 28-July 5

• During Phase 1, from 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 28 to 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 5,​trains didn’t run between Court Sq and Nassau Av in either direction.

Phase 2: July 5-August 11

• During Phase 2, from 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 11,​trains won’t run between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.​trains won’t stop at:
  • Court Sq​​​
  • 21 St
  • Greenpoint Av
  • Nassau Av
  • Metropolitan Av/Lorimer St​
  • Broadway
  • Flushing Av
  • Myrtle-Willoughby Avs
• Free B98 shuttle buses will run between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, making all​stops.
  • Re-enter the subway with OMNY or MetroCard at Court Sq​​​, Metropolitan Av/Lorimer St​, or Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
• ​​trains will make local stops between Myrtle Av and Marcy Av at all times.
  • Use OMNY or MetroCard for a free out-of-system transfer between Broadwayand Hewes St​​​or Lorimer St​​​.
• Subway alternatives between Brooklyn and Queens via Manhattan may be faster than the shuttle bus. Consider the​​​​​​​​​and/or​trains.
• ​trains will run between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av at all times, every 8 minutes during rush hour and every 10 minutes during the day and evening.

Phase 2-3 transition: Overnight, August 11-12

• From 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 11 to 5 a.m. Monday, August 12,​trains won’t run at all.
  • Free B98 shuttle buses will run between Court Sq​​and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, making all​​stops.
  • Free B93 shuttle buses will run between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Jay St-MetroTech​​​​​​​​, making all​​stops between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn​​​.
  • ​trains will continue to make all​​stops between Bergen St and Church Av.
  • Transfer between B98 and B93 shuttle buses at Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
  • Transfer between B93 shuttle buses and the​ at Jay St-MetroTech.

Phase 3: August 12-September 3

• During Phase 3, from 5 a.m. Monday, August 12 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 3,​trains won’t run between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.​trains won’t stop at:
  • Classon Av
  • Clinton-Washington Avs
  • Fulton St
  • Hoyt-Schermerhorn​​
  • Bergen St​
  • Carroll St​
  • Smith-9 Sts​
  • 4 Av-9 St​​
  • 7 Av​
  • 15 St-Prospect Park​
  • Fort Hamilton Pkwy​
  • Church Av​
• ​trains will continue to make all​​stops between Bergen St and Church Av.
• Free B93 shuttle buses will run between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Jay St-MetroTech​​​​, making all​stops between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn​​.
• Re-enter the subway with OMNY or MetroCard at Bedford-Nostrand Avs, Hoyt-Schermerhorn​​, Jay St-MetroTech​​​​, or these additional Downtown Brooklyn stations:
  • Borough Hall/Court St​​​​​
  • Hoyt St​​
  • Nevins St​​​​
  • DeKalb Av​​​
  • Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr​​​​​​​​​
  • Lafayette Av​
• ​​trains will make local stops between Myrtle Av and Marcy Av at all times.
  • Use OMNY or MetroCard for a free out-of-system transfer between Broadway​and Hewes St​​​or Lorimer St​​​.
• ​trains will run between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs at all times, every 8 minutes during rush hour and every 10 minutes during the day and evening.
